About Kahua
Kahua was set up in 2005 by Ian Straker and Daniel Sudron and is based in the North East of England. In 2006 Kahua was awarded 'Cool Cuts' status, placing it amongst the top 20 tastemaker record stores in the UK. In 2008 Kahua was awarded two titles at the North East Digital Awards 07 - 'Best Music Site' and 'Best E-Commerce Site'.
Kahua focusses on house music in all its forms including deep, jacking, tech, funky and soulful. We sell both vinyl and CDs and a range of DJ accessories including vinyl care products and magazines. We are an official supplier of Retro/Paul Taylor CDs and merchandise, the UKs longest running club night.
Orders made via the website are sent daily all over the world to DJs and music lovers.
Part of Kahua's success is down to constantly staying on the ball with new records arriving several times a week alongside an extensive back catalogue including many rare and sought after gems. By building up close links with record labels and distributors there's always a healthy stack of upfront releases and promos for sale. Also important is the high levels of customer service that are maintained: orders are processed quickly and all enquires are knowledgably responded to within 24 hours.
In 2005 Kahua began solely as a record store, but is now also a promotions company and publishing company. In 2007 Kahua Music Promotions was launched to offer a tastemaker promotions service for record labels releasing house music. In 2008 Kahua Music Publishing was established to work with artists in protecting and exploiting their copyrights.
